Mission

The goal of the Lost Pines Artisans Alliance is to enrich and unify the arts community in Smithville and Bastrop County and to work to make Smithville known as an  "arts destination" bringing increased tourism and commerce to Smithville.

The Lost Pines Artisans Alliance will also work to make the arts more accessible to the citizens of this community. We will work to do this through education, outreach, and the creation of and participation in community events.

The Lost Pines Artisans Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit registered in the State of Texas.

How We Do It

The LPAA is a coalition of artists, craftsmen, designers, authors, business people and community members who have come together to expose and promote the wealth of talent in Bastrop County and Central Texas.

Meeting to combine the creative energies and artistic resources of the arts community with the connections and resources of the business community the LPAA is working on programs for development and support of the arts in Bastrop County. We have been very fortunate to have the support and interest of the local business community. We also work with other local organizations, such as the Smithville Art League,Bastrop Fine Arts Guild, The Smithville Chamber of Commerce, Keep Smithville Beautiful,The City of Smithville and others to network and foster cooperation.

Current Projects

The First Saturday in Smithville project has met with continuing success. In addition to planning and running the Festival, the Lost Pines Artisans Alliance is constantly developing additional projects to foster the arts and public art in the area. LPAA member Richard Latham has been working in conjunction with Keep Smithville Beautiful on mural restorations around Smithville. Two murals have been restored to date. The train mural on the side of Bayer Pharmacy facing Loop 230 was completed last year as well as a mural done by the crew of "Hope Floats" on the wall of the gymnasium building. Our "Art on a Stick" program went public this year with the sale of several pieces which are popping up all over Smithville.
Our members began teaching art classes to the children of Smithville at the Smithville Recreation Center at the end of this school year and are continuing to offer free art classes for kids and teens at the rec center this summer. For more information go to our classes page. We have taken over the Mary Nichols Art Center and will be having art exhibitions and art classes and workshops for adults there soon.
We are currently incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the State of Texas and have filed for 501 3(c) status with the IRS.
